Early to rise and off to the airport at 4:45 a.m. Excited to get to see Maine and hopefull for good weather, you see it has rained all day here at home. We all know the rain goes east...Maine is east for all you directionally challenged people. Started with our flight being delayed and then not. So off we go to Detroit to change planes. Now for those of you that are thinking we are on a small plane from GR to Detroit, the plane from Detoit to Portland was even smaller. Since we are not the smallest people in the world, let's just say it was a tight fit and happy the flight was only a little over an hour.
Touchdown Portland, Maine....rain, I can honestly say the weather is not looking good. But we are still in high spirits, as when we completed getting the rental car and emerged from the parking garage the rain had stopped.
First stop on our list...Portland Head Lighthouse...words can not decribe how beautiful that lighthouse is. Let's just say it is up on the top of my favorites for lighthouses. This being said I have only to see it in the fog, yes the rain quit but the fog bank rolled on in. Still hopefull for some good pics...you be the judge.
Sorry for the lack of color you see it looks gray because it is foggy out. But that being said we did turn around one time and the fog had lifted as fast as it had come in. We did have time to take this:
Unfortunately the fog really rolled in so it was time to head up the coast.
Camden was along our rainy trip but did stop long enough to get a shot of the waterfall
and harbor.
This would be a beautiful place to be in nicer weather...pics would be great.
Arrived at our destination for the night Bar Harbor. Hope for sunshine.
